We head to Myrtle Beach South Carolina where the boardwalk is a big tourist draw. I don’t see too much to like though, save the people watching. It costs four to ten dollars a day to park this time of year, and prime spots cost ten dollars an hour in the high season of June and July.

Most of the food served along this mile or so of retail oceanfront real estate is fried, and most areas are noisy and crowded. Brightly colored ice cream and frozen yogurt shops anchor literally every block; sometimes they compete face-to-face, two or three per block.

I see a restaurant sign that reads “Dirty Dicks Bar and Grill.” Grill? Really? I cannot imagine eating in a place with a name like that. They may have great food but I’ll never know.

Then I see the Gay Dolphin Tourist Shop and Memorabilia sign. We just have to go in because it is highly rated in all the tourist rags. No, it is not gay. It is big but crowded, dusty, over priced and boring for my tastes. However, if you want some really weird trinkets or really like to shop the place is massive and well worth a look.

We head inland two blocks to eat at the Trip Advisor five star rated “Mrs. Fish” restaurant. We spend nineteen dollars total on fried panko crusted fish fillets. The fish is delicious and stays piping hot throughout the entire time. Not a bad meal near the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach.
