This page I wrote for my old rv website RVforSaleGuide.com before developing the Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips. People still like big rv's despite the much greater cost and trouble to operate, so here's what I know about them. Percy Warner Park TennesseeGreat place for trails for hiking, biking, running, horseback riding. Percy Warner Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the world with over 2,000 acres in Tennessee offering a variety of activities. Amenities such as picnic areas, a nature center, hiking and biking trails, an equestrian center and horse trails, scenic drives, cross country running courses, model airplane field, athletic fields, and two golf courses are enjoyed by over 500,000 visitors annually. Dogs are allowed in Percy Warner and on trails as long as they are leashed. The trail loops go from one mile easy to eight miles moderate. The trails are color-coded but it can be a little confusing finding the colors at times. You just might put in more miles than you intended, but definitely worth it with all the park's beauty. This park is totally shaded which is a great escape from the summer sun. There are elevation issues and the trails can get a little rocky at times. Along the way there are benches so you can take your time and enjoy yourself and the one your with. If trails are not for you, you can still enjoy the park via a paved road. This can still be challenging with the hills. Horseback riding - You bring your own horse. The bridle paths are shaded and that makes for a relaxing and fun ride. There are three loops, 3.2 miles, 6.9 miles and 8.0 miles. It's actually one of the best places to ride due to the wild open nature of the wooded settings and the landscape diversity. Huge open fields of grass and hay hedged in by treed forests and winding paths going both up the mountain and down to some water areas. Bike trails - The elevation issues on the trails are a slight challenge and they include rocks, well, this just adds to the fun. We were screaming down the trails and at times nearly crashing into trees and off and down the mountain side. Many times we had to push the bikes up the trails but we were on hiking trails instead of the biking trails because we wanted more crazy excitement. Running trails - As a runner from Florida I found the road and trails to be very hilly and that is a challenge, especially on the long hills. Remember to take it easy going down or you can get running so fast you crash and burn, and that makes for a long crawl back to the car; if you can remember where you parked.
