QUESTION: Does it make sense to get an auxiliary marine
battery installed in the van and tie it to the alternator and to
an inverter for extra power? Maybe have a trickle to the battery
come in from a discreet solar panel on top of van?
MY ANSWER: Your question seems to indicate you have not
read my strategies for simplifying and getting what you need without
complicated "systems" for producing, what is for the most
part; unneeded "energy". Nevertheless I will address your
questions here. Unless you have a specal unique situation that I
am not aware of the additions are not worth what you give up to
have them.
QUESTION: What did you do for power?
MY ANSWER: Power for what? All the simple cheap gadgets
you need to produce all the power you need, and all the instructions
on HOW to power everything from computers and cell phones to cooking,
fans and bathing are shown in the book - Vanabode.
QUESTION: Can I use fans instead of a roof vent?
MY ANSWER: Yes. We have used small 12-volt fans that do
not draw down the battery. They are very helpful and cheap but mostly
we use the special roof vent 8 hours per night and it does not discharge
our ONE battery.
